8th Dhul Hijjah — Yawm at-Tarwiyah
The Day the Journey to Allah Begins 🤍
Assalam o Alaikum, dear brothers and sisters! 🌙
Today is the 8th of Dhul Hijjah — known as Yawm at-Tarwiyah — the Day of Quenching. It is the day when millions of Hujjaj leave Makkah and begin their sacred journey toward Mina — hearts full of love, eyes full of tears, lips full of Talbiyah.
Even if we are not in Makkah today — our hearts can still be there. Our duas can still reach Allah. These are the most blessed days of the entire year. Let us not let even one moment pass without filling it with something good. 🤍
🕋 What is Yawm at-Tarwiyah?
The word Tarwiyah comes from the Arabic root meaning "to quench thirst" or "to contemplate and reflect." On this day, the pilgrims would traditionally carry water from Zamzam to prepare for the journey ahead.
On the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, the Hujjaj travel from Makkah to Mina — the tent city — where they spend the night in prayer, remembrance, and preparation for the greatest day of the year: the Day of Arafah.
For those of us at home — this is a day to reflect, fast, make dua, and connect with Allah as deeply as we can. Because the gates of mercy are wide open right now. 🤲
🌟 What to Do Today — 8th Dhul Hijjah
🕋 The Talbiyah — Say It Today
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ
"Here I am O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am."
Today, millions of hearts are turned toward Makkah. Millions of lips are saying Labbayk. Millions of tears are falling for the love of Allah. Whether we are there or not — our hearts can be in that same state of love and surrender.
Make today count. Make every moment of Dhul Hijjah count. You are so close to Allah right now. 🤍
